How consciousness sees itself

I have the power to do whatEVER I want to!! Mwahahahaha!!

What I suspect is the actual relationship of the brain and consciousness:

The angler fish is the brain. Consciousness is the little male in the red circle that has fused to the female's body and will live the rest of his life as her parasite.

Consciousness is not the pilot, but the gauges on the dashboard. The human has free will in the sense that it does make choices, but they are not made by consciousness. The operation of the brain just gives consciousness that illusion. Choices are made at lower levels of brain operation and then filter up into consciousness.
